Photovoltaic modules

Photovoltaic panels are the most important element of a photovoltaic installation. It is thanks to the photovoltaic modules that the sun’s rays are collected, which then transfer electricity to our home. Currently, there are quite a lot of different types of photovoltaic modules on the market. Among them, we can mention: polycrystalline or monocrystalline modules, BIPV, Full Black or Half Cut panels. Most often in households, polycrystalline or monocrystalline modules are used.

1. Monocrystalline panels – the main feature that distinguishes this type of panels is their color. They are dark blue or black. The main element they are made of are silicon monocrystals. During production, the silicon takes on a cylinder-like shape. There are noticeable gaps between the cells. This is due to the desire to use as much material as possible, so the finished links are cut into the shape of octagons. Monocrystalline panels are characterized by higher efficiency and greater power of a single photovoltaic module.
2. Polycrystalline panels – this type of panels can be distinguished by their light blue color. In this case, the cells are square. The structure of polycrystalline panels is based on many single crystals of polycrystalline silicon. A single polycrystalline panel has less power than, for example, a monocrystalline panel. They are also distinguished from monocrystalline panels by a lower price. Polycrystalline panels are simply cheaper.
3. Half Cut panels – these are the so-called panels cut in half, so we increase the number of links twice. A panel with the dimensions of eg 156x156m creates a 2x panel of 156x78m. A standard photovoltaic panel consists of 60 cells, half-cut panels already have as many as 120.
4. BIPV photovoltaic panels – to put it simply, this type of panels forms an integral whole with a given building. Most often, this type of modules can be found, for example, at bus stops, stations or office buildings. BIPV panels can also be installed on the roof of the building, so they have a double function: the first is to generate the energy needed in the house, and the second is the tiles that generate electricity.
5. Full Black photovoltaic panels – these are panels that are 100% black. Their particular advantage is aesthetics. They fit perfectly with our roofing, making the photovoltaic installation look fashionable and aesthetic. The choice of color, however, does not only focus on aesthetics but also on performance. Experts estimate that full black panels show greater efficiency in “attracting” sunlight, and thus show greater efficiency.
